Watching Time

I lived a thousand life times
 loved a thousand more
 I’ve haunted long forgotten ruins
 and cruised the coastal shores
 searching for my destiny
 on streets of broken dreams
where I was young & forever was mine
 I had nothing but time
but that was then it’s not today
 it’s another place and time
of where and whens and used to be’s
I used to wanna be so many things.
I used to have so many dreams.
 Now I’m watching time fly
on the wings of my dreams it goes by
I try to reach and grab a piece
 it just passes me by
 I’m just watching time fly
Do I have to live another life
before I finally get it right

 I remember one summer day
not so long ago, but so far away
 I met you
 you took my hand
led me out across the sand
 We danced. We laughed.
 We loved. We shined.
It was the best night of my life.
but I let the chance slip away
thinking better would come my way
If I knew then what I knew now
I never would’ve let you out of my sight
  We’d still Shine!

 Instead I’m watching time fly
on the wings of my dreams it goes by
I try and reach and grab a piece
 it just passes me by
 I’m just watching time fly
on the wings of my dreams it goes by
Do I have to live another life
Before I finally get it right

 Oh, I’ve wasted years
 I’ve wasted tears
I’ve lived with too many fears
 spent to many sleepless nights
 by the neon lights
have to get myself in gear
I was musing on could have beens
 with a sloe gin friend
knowing someday is not to far away
 It’s just not today
 But it’s never too late

 To stop watching time fly
on the wings of my dreams it goes by.
I try to reach and grab that piece
 before it passes me by
 I’m watching time fly
and I pray Please grant me one more life
 let me get it right.
I pray Please grant me one more life
 Let me do this right.
