the day started late I slept in but now it's afternoon I'm awake wondering what's the plan Will I get to those errands I've been putting off Will I find the energy to go for a walk Perhaps I'll take the time to color my hair it is, after all, the start of a brand new age & I should attend to these grey strays I should do a lot of things I just have to start with one.
the worst thing I can hear
The worst thing I can hear are those three words many hold so dear,Continue reading “the worst thing I can hear”
Oh they’ll wait, forever and a day, to hear them at least once in their life
but not me
those three words just mean goodbye.
It’s my last memory of you,
the last words I heard before you disappeared
and I had to accept we were through.
and that’s how I came to dread the phrase
‘I love you’.
you brought me a thousand doubts
Hafiz, Rumi, Forough Farrokhzad, no one does poetry quite like the Persians. A friend in Tehran even once compared me to Forough, it made me blush because that was a compliment of the highest order. I wish I was as talented.
So why am I here. I’m here to share the fal-e hafiz, a way to find your future in a line. I might be exaggerating a bit but it is a form of divination in Persian tradition that helps one find answers to questions on their mind.
Click the link, http://www.hafizonlove.com/fal.htm, and concentrate, then press the button to discover the answer. You should find it in the first line you see when you open your eyes.
Before you go, let me share mine:
‘You brought me a thousand doubts’.
(Yikes! Not sure what to make of that line in relation to my question :/. It’s kind of freaking me out,
Supposedly there is more clarification to be found in the entire poem, I don’t know but see below.)

Sometimes I feel so slow because my mind takes its time
and I don't always get the messages filled with hidden agendas
the irony being that I'm a huge fan
of the double entendre and witty word play
which comes in handy writing poetry
but in conversations and other real life situations
I often want to pause and ask for clarification
but due to intimidation
I'll just run with the misinterpretation
in all its awkward glory
before I change the subject
and go off topic
someday it’ll make a great story
“Remember that time…”
but honestly that is all just speculation
I'm not usually aware of being in a situation
I'll most likely react with a blank stare
and an even more awkward smile
and a silently stated ‘OK’
before I turn around and go
before you know I'm slow.
zoom – the new open mic
I’ve missed going to my fav open mic, but we managed to keep it alive online. First through instagram and now via zoom. We get together every Thursday to connect and share poetry, music and more.
If you’d like to join us visit their instagram page (see link below). Sign up usually opens up Wednesday afternoon for Thursday evening shows 8pm (pacific time).
FOS is a wonderfully supportive and supremely talented group of people. Now that LA has kind of reopened, fingers crossed we’ll be able to return to live open mics soon.
w.i.p.
I'm tired trapped in transit between anger and apathy I didn't think I had any more fucks left to give what is this shit! I watch the world around me tear itself in two So much trash never followed by action just reactions mere distractions and another day fades away.Continue reading “w.i.p.”
No Ties there are no ties that bind me here no reasons that can compel me to remain the world will go on even if I’m gone and I will keep singing my own song because the ties that bind are all in my mind.
my night in LA
Sad that in person open mics are no more, for now. Grateful that virtual open mics are here. Love being able to to still connect with a great group of people and share. Below is a link to one I did last night. I’m first up but be sure to watch to the end and watch NotaTeenPoet and Louis Hale treat us to their wonderful talent.
