manticore, sporadic, nomenclature

Last night I dreamt of the manticore again.
it sat above me on top of
the mountain pass, waiting for me
to reach the gate. I trodded and
trudged up the hill dreading the moment
when I would reach the apex.
I did not want to be judged, but
still I climbed and crawled over
the boulders blocking the path.
Will the obstacles I overcame and
surpassed make him sympathize
and feel my plight? I doubt it.
I could hear his stomach growl,
it was like thunder.
I could sense his hunger.
It just waited and watched.
Why didn't it pounce
and put me out of my misery
just end this journey?
Was it too invested by it's
delight in my struggle?
Damn you demon!
You may best me
and get in my way but
I will win & get over this trouble
triumphant as I beat you back into the rubble.

passel busk culminate

There's a poetic lyric I wrote a long time ago.
I use passel in the opening verse.
"Do fairy tales really come true,
tell me Cinderella whatever
happened to you. You got your
house on the hill, your passel
of kids.."

It goes something like that and
it's the featured song/poem
of the next video I'm working on
(but still have yet to start editing).
However, I'm feeling particularly motivated
this week. So hopefully I can take
this energy and inject it into my creativity
to increase my productivity that culminates
with me posting a new video
busking a capella by the end of the week.

words of the day 11/2/21

inane, menace, columbarium

That cackle sent a chill down my spine.
How could the others stand it.
Every time he laughed I shuddered
as if fingers had just run down a
chalkboard. He was so mundane
and had a most inane obsession
with my personal life, with everyone's.
Gossip girl as a nickname did
not do justice. He was filled with
malice, his curiosity was a menace
to the community.
The desire to break bonds and
create chaos with some farfetched story
is where he sought his glory.
I watched him cause worry with the calmest of the sages.
They went grey after being drawn into his games.
Ignoring him was the best I could do,
but he still tried to force interactions.
I tried to turn a blind eye and pretend he didn't happen.
I mean, he's not my problem anymore
that's why I ignored the door
to the columbarium when it opened
and he walked out covered in ash.
hmmm...
May wreaking havoc with the dead be his last act.

words of the day 11/1

bogus, anomaly, verst

confused by the term,
she thought hard,
you could see it reflected in her expression,
the furrowed brow and pursed lips
in deep contemplation
‘2 versts and you'll be there.’
Where? What? 2 verses?
She misunderstood, but still tried
to find the lines that could get her
to the destination she wanted to find
"Go 2 versts! 10 blocks that way,
a mile past the Jack in the box.”
Oh God, was he putting her on.
This is a bogus explanation,
she only asked for directions,
not a language lesson
She wished she could look it up
but alas, an anomaly, her phone was dead.
Damn it why did she bother to get out of bed.

next

My mind is reeling
somewhat overwhelmed
stressed, distressed
over impending progress
as I step forward towards the future
into an unknown tomorrow
my first instinct is to retreat
in the sweet oblivion
of procrastination,
hesitation & constant second guessing.
I make lists of unfinished business
then sit and watch Netflix,
while the hours of the day whittle away
to the coming dawn
I feel a yawn coming on
and know that soon
I have to set aside this pen
and find a way to end these lines
with a suitable rhyme
that continues the flow
before I lie back and ponder
the things I haven’t done
and need to complete tomorrow.

to do list

the day started late
I slept in
but now it's afternoon
I'm awake
wondering what's the plan
Will I get to those errands
I've been putting off
Will I find the energy
to go for a walk
Perhaps I'll take the time
to color my hair
it is, after all, the start
of a brand new age
& I should attend
to these grey strays
I should do a lot of things
I just have to start with one.
