He Kissed Me plus one.

Filmed on April 15th, 2021. Two poems, He Kissed Me followed by an untitled note to a friend. This was a special evening. It was the Freedom of Speech anniversary show and the first time we were all together in person since the lockdown. What an evening, what a group of great people.

He kissed me hard, he kissed me fast
He kissed me breathless
and swept me off my feet.
It was one second that lasted longer,
one moment
to burn on my lips forever.
He kissed me!
Oh My God!
I swear I had a vision
of two kids and a dog.
This was the one
I longed for, had waited for.
Finally, that Disney dream
Prince Charming coming into being.
He Kissed Me!
Then he asked me my name.
I almost forgot
who I could be
because he kissed me drunk
I was so weak in the knees.
He kissed me!
and promised love
and a life of ever afters,
to be there for me,
take care of me,
all the things he could pretend to be.
But he kissed me and he lied.
I think he kisses with open eyes.
But I still believed
because this is what I wanted love to be
wrapped up in hope
entwined in the times
that just stands still,
moments of togetherness
tangled with uncomfortable
fragments of obsession,
Yes, I see beyond his words
to the actions
read his reactions
I need a new distraction.
But during weaker wars with my will
I let him kiss me still.
Now I like to think I have no regrets
but sometimes, only sometimes
I can think of one
which I do my best to forget.
That is
the last time
He kissed me
I wish I had said yes.
